East Garrison’s Future Is Up To Us

How do you see yourself in East Garrison’s future?

The East Garrison Plan B concept has a lot more to offer than Century’s 2022 concept.

If you want to be able to share a bottle of wine with a group of friends while watching a performance in the future Town Center Park Amphitheater, Plan B offers you the most options to do so.

If you are a resident of the future Town Center affordable housing and want to park close to your home after work at night, Plan B offers you the most options for finding a parking space - before having to park in the “overflow parking” near the dog park and walk home from there as Century proposes.

If you want to enjoy the sunshine while in the future Town Center Park, Plan B has no Town Center buildings on Sherman that can and will cast the entire park in shadow.

If you treasure, honor, and enjoy views of the historic World War II Chapel and don’t want to see those views blocked by 3- and 4-story buildings (with lovely facades), then your only option is Plan B.

If you are a prospective commercial business owner/tenant and want your customers or patrons to be able to find parking near your prospective Town Center business, Plan B, again, offers them the best odds of finding a convenient parking place.

If you live in a townhouse, apartment, or future row house and would like to be able to plant some herbs, veggies, and flowers, then Plan B’s Community Gardens are your best and most accessible option. (Century’s recently-proposed rooftop garden will only be accessible to the people who live in that building.)

If you want a cohesive Town Center with expansive and views and more gathering spaces for 1,400 families and their guests as well as visitors and concert-goers, and not a Town Center divided down the middle by 3- and 4-story buildings on the Sherman side of Chapel Hill, then Plan B is for you.

It’s not about how lovely the building facades will be - they should be equally lovely no matter which plan. The IMPORTANT distinction between concepts is the livability, functionality, and viability of the Town Center in 3D real life - not 2D.
